                           Pioneer Press All-State Members Profile

Jay BarriballHoly Angels, Senior, Forward
The most dangerous offensive player in Minnesota the past two seasons, and one of the fastest. After signing with Minnesota in November, he scored 28 goals and had 38 assists as he and linemate Taylor Matson combined for 136 points.

Mike Beggs,  Apple Valley, Senior, Goalie
Made more than 30 saves in nine different games, including a 33-save performance in the Eagles' 4-3 victory over Holy Angels in the Section 5AA semifinals. Finished with a 1.92 goals-against average and  0.93 SP.

David Fischer Apple Valley, Senior, Defenseman
Minnesota's Mr. Hockey for 2006. The 6-foot-4 Gophers recruit used his speed, rink awareness and a prodigious wingspan to severely limit access to the Eagles' end of the ice. He led Apple Valley in scoring with 39 points (8 goals).

Michael Forney,  Thief River Falls, Senior, Forward
According to the NHL's Central Scouting Service, Forney is ranked as the third-best pro prospect among Minnesota high school seniors, and first among forwards. Will play college hockey at North Dakota. Ended season with 68 points and was only Mr. Hockey finalist to play in state tournament.

Jordan Fulton,  Breck, Senior, Forward
A Mr. Hockey finalist, Fulton led the Elite League in scoring last fall and led the metro this season in goals (45) and points (81). Played on Breck's Class A championship team as a sophomore and concluded his career as the Mustangs' all-time leading scorer. Has signed to play at Minnesota-Duluth.

David Grun,  White Bear Lake, Senior, Forward
A Minnesota-Duluth recruit and Mr. Hockey finalist, and one of two repeat selections (Jay Barriball) on this year's Pioneer Press all-state team. Had 25 goals and 24 assists, including two goals in the Bears' Section 3AA final against Hill-Murray, which the Pioneers won 5-4 in double overtime.

Zach Hansen,  White Bear Lake, Senior, Defenseman
Has great instinct for when to take advantage of an opportunity in the offensive zone without getting caught out of position. Hansen was the Bears' third-leading scorer with 25 points (six goals). He had two goals and an assist in White Bear's 4-1 victory over Cretin-Derham Hall in January.

Chris Hickey,  Cretin-Derham Hall, Junior, Forward
Finished with two goals in each of the three tournament games for the Class AA champion Raiders. Led his team in scoring, was the leading scorer in the Suburban East Conference and finished the season with 63 points (37 goals).

Tyler Johnson,  Cloquet/Esko/Carlton, Junior, Forward
Headed for Colorado College in the fall. Scored 24 goals and assisted on an equal number for C/E/C, which made it to the Section 7AA final before losing to Grand Rapids, the eventual Class AA runner-up.

Nick Larson,  Hill-Murray, Junior, Forward
Combined with fellow junior and linemate Mike Hoeffel (a Gophers recruit) for 148 points. Larson, who had 77 points (38 goals), was the metro's second-leading score, and capped his season with five goals and an assist at the state tournament.

Austin Lee,  Bloomington Jefferson, Senior, Goalie
The 6-3, 185-pound Lee was an imposing obstacle for opposing offenses. Had a 1.77 GAA and save percentage of 92.2, was Minnesota's most consistent goalie and won the Frank Brimsek Award (for the state's top senior goalie). Set the school record for most victories with 55.

Brandon Martell,  Elk River, Junior, Defenseman
One of two all-state-caliber junior defenders for the Elks, along with Chris Slavik. Considered to have one of the hardest shots in the state. A two-year starter, he had 13 goals and 23 assists.

Aaron Marvin,  Warroad, Junior, Forward
Ranked No. 2 (behind Michael Forney) among Minnesota high school forwards by Central Scouting. As a sophomore, scored the goal in double overtime against Totino-Grace that won the Class A championship. Has racked up 89 points over the past two seasons.

Derek McCallum,  Hill-Murray, Senior, Defenseman
Signed with the Gophers in November to play baseball. Scored 15 goals (including the winner in the double-overtime 3AA final) and had 27 assists. Put on a passing clinic with three assists in the state quarterfinals last week as the Pioneers beat Minnetonka 5-4.

Ryan McDonagh,  Cretin-Derham Hall,  Junior, Forward
Has committed to Wisconsin. Scored a goal in the first period of the Class AA title game to help start the Raiders on their way to a 7-0 victory over Grand Rapids. His two goals and an assist Saturday night raised his season point total to 45 (12 goals).

Joey Miller,  Wayzata, Senior, Forward
Had 61 points (36 goals), was picked as a Mr. Hockey finalist and led the Trojans to within a goal of the state tournament.

Matt Olson,  Blaine, Senior, Forward
His 43 points (28 goals) helped Blaine defeat Centennial twice, put together a 22-game unbeaten streak win the Section 4AA championship and finish third at the state tournament.

Nick Oslund,  Burnsville, Senior, Forward
Had at least one point in every game. Ended the regular season as the leading scorer in the Lake Conference with 51 points (22 goals). Closed out his high school career with 107 points and a plus-minus rating of plus-57.

Danny Sinn,  Blaine, Senior, Forward
Led the Bengals in scoring with 46 points (19 goals) despite playing the entire season with an injured back.

Carl Sneep,  Brainerd, Senior, Forward
Signed with Boston College last fall. Was a big reason Brainerd had its best hockey team. After leading the Warriors in scoring as a junior with 42 points, he tied for the team lead this season with 51 (14 goals). A Mr. Hockey finalist and likely first- or second-round pick in the NHL draft.
